• Looking after our fleet of LGV's and vans
• Planning in MOT's, services, repairs & inspections
• Processing orders and invoices for consumables and fuel
• Route planning and dispatching

Working as part of our accounts team the Purchase Ledger Clerk will manage the purchase ledger accurately and efficiently, ensuring supplier invoices are processed correctly and suppliers are paid in line with agreed terms. Key responsibilities will include:

• Process and code supplier invoices accurately and promptly.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and goods received where applicable.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies with suppliers and internal departments.
• Maintain accurate supplier accounts and ensure statements are reconciled regularly.
• Prepare supplier payment runs and ensure payments are made within agreed terms.
• Monitor supplier accounts for overdue invoices and resolve queries.
• Maintain accurate records of supplier information and payment details.
• Process credit notes and supplier refunds.
• Assist with month-end procedures, including purchase ledger reconciliations and accruals.
• Ensure invoices are correctly coded for VAT purposes.
• Deal with supplier queries by telephone and email.
• Assist with general finance administration when required.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills & experience:

• Previous purchase ledger or accounts payable experience.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Reasonable Excel skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines and manage a high volume of invoices.
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with suppliers.
• Experience of working with an ERP/accounting system.
• Ability to work independently while also being part of a wider finance team.

With the following skills & experience being desirable:

• Experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Experience of purchase order matching.
• Knowledge of VAT.
• Experience of preparing BACS payment runs.

Working in a busy sales office duties will include; processing orders and dealing with customer enquiries.
